As I posted on our forums, you can now finally change your minecraft name!  I signed up with my normal realname as a username thinking I’d be able to create a “character” at some point later.  This was back in the early alpha and well I had no idea that your account name would be what would show up in game.  If you too have wanted to change your username, now is the chance!
